NL Battlefieldgids Dirk Hoekendijk overleden
On 27 May 2022 our fellow guide Dirk Hoekendijk suddenly passed away 69 year of age. Na zijn actieve diensttijd als Kolonel der Luchtdoelartillerie werd hij lid van de Int.Guild of Battlefield Guides en behaalde in mei 2018 as the sixth guide in the Netherlands, the Badge (nr.87). Under the name BTA44, Dirk mainly conducted tours in Arnhem with the theme 'the German reaction'. Zijn kennis van de Slag om Arnhem /Operatie Market Garden en zijn analytisch vermogen maakten dat hij veel waardering kreeg van de geïnteresseerde groepen die hij rondleidde. His experiences as a soldier and as a teacher were of great value. Dirk was buried with military honors at the Heiderust cemetery in Rheden, with great interest.

Deze werd 16 feb tijdens een NL – GBG meeting te Ede , uitgereikt door Wybo Boersma, voorzitter GBG-NL sectie. Dit is de 7e Badge uitgereikt aan een NL gids !

De NL GBG – gidsen waren er uiteraard – vrijwel allemaal- buy: vlnr. Wybo Boersma, Edwin Popken, Luuk Buist, Willem Kleijn, Joris Nieuwint, Joël Stoppels en Dirk Hoekendijk. May 2018 – International Guild of Battlefield Guides heeft Dirk Hoekendijk (r) van http://www.BTA44.nl per mei 2018 Badge nr. 87 granted! Dit is 6e GBG Badge uitgereikt aan een NL – battlefield gids. Het ere-metaal werd hem op toepasselijke locatie te Arnhem, overhandigd door Wybo Boersma, voorzitter van de NL-sectie en drager van de allereerste GBG badge in NL.

♠Luftwaffe bunker Diogenes – Schaarsbergen closed for guided tours
– Jan 2018 – Owner Rijks Vastgoed has. 2018 bunker Diogenes in Schaarsbergen unfortunately closed for guided tours until further notice. Therefore, the 'open'’ Airwar 40-45 / Fliegerhorst Share excursion from DRG Battlefieldtours now organized on Saturdays (maatwerk excursies voor groepen ook door de week). Deelnemers krijgen dan eerst een uitgebreide PowerPoint presentatie te zien/horen met veel foto’s van bunker Diogenes tijdens de bouw, demolitions September 44 and after the war.

– Januari 2018- The Battle of the Scheldt International Guild of Battlefield Guides heeft Luuk Buist (r) per december 2017 Badge nr. 85 granted! Deze werd uitgereikt tijdens de Annual Guild Meeting in Mons (Bergen- Belgiè) Jan 2018, by Maj. in Mrs.. Holt, widely regarded in the UK as the founders of Battlefield tourism . This is the 5th Badge awarded to an NL Battlefield Guide !
