Tijdens de 3-daagse battlefield tour “Hürtgenwald” geven gidsen van de Vereniging Vrienden van het Airborne Museum en de International Guild of Battlefield Guides een uitgebreide uitleg over de gevechten en leiden u over het voormalige slagveld. We also visit the German Cemetery in Vossenack and Ordensburg at Vogelsang. This well-preserved National Socialist Ordensburg is accessible to the public after many years served as barracks for practicing NATO troops.
The battle of the Hürtgenwald south of Aachen which lasted from 12 september 1944 Middle tot februari 1945 is one of the forgotten battles of WWII. In their attempt to reach the Rhine members of the US armed forces their biggest loss here in Europe. The fighting in the woods in autumn and winter 1944/1945 of what is now called the municipality Hürtgenwald, never received much attention in history. The battlefield still bears the traces of the horrific battles. Bunkers, versperringen, foxholes and trenches are still present everywhere. This while the area near the dams in the Ruhr is a popular holiday destination and kurort.
The tour is led by Wybo Boersma, former director of the Airborne Museum and directory of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides and Jaap Korsloot known as directory of Market Garden tours. Each participant will receive a comprehensive guide to the battlefield tour.
Fare and surcharges
The costs for the unique tour are € 350.– p. p. based on a double room and full board.(two nights with breakfast, lunch and dinner), Entrance to the museum "Hürtgenwald 1944 and in peace "en de Ordensburg Vogelzang. During the journey we, if possible, have lunch in the restaurant "Zur Maus" the former US headquarters.
Surcharge single room € 30,–. Travel insurance and any cancellation must exit the participants themselves.
If canceled up to 1 August you will receive 80% and 1 september 50% of the fare back. If canceled na1 September you will receive only 80% of the fare back if your site can be occupied by another.
Registration is in volorde of receipt of application forms. The number of hotel places for this unique trip is limited. Maximum number of participants 20, minimum 15

17.15 - 17.45: Through L246 to Schmidt, thence through L218 to Hasenfeld / Heimbach hotel

08.30 - 09.00: Through L218 to Schmidt, then L246 to Strauch and from there via B266 to Rollesbroich and using the L160 to Ochsenkopf.
09.00 - 10.15: Viewing bunker line at Ochsenkopf.
10.15 - 10.30: Via B399 to Vossenack / Soldatenfriedhof.
10.30 - 11.00: Visit Soldatenfriedhof Vossenack Wehebach viewpoint.
11.00 - 11.10: Via B399 ri Germeter, thence through L219 to Vossenack / Kirche.
11.10 - 11.30: Visit church and cemetery Vossenack Explanation attack on Schmidt.
11.30 - 12.30: Walk through Kall trail to Mestrenger Muhle.
12.30 - 14.00: Lunch at Mestrenger Muhle and search for Panzerkette.
14.00 - 15.00: Through Kall trail to Vossenack Kirche.
15.05 - 16.45: Visit Museum "Hürtgenwald 1944 and in peace "en gewondenbunker in Simonskall.
16.45 - 17.15: Through L219 and B399 to Hürtgen.
17.15 - 17.45: Visiting cemetery Hürtgen, Or Wilde.
17.45 - 18.30: Via B399, L219 (Vossenack), L218 to Schmidt, Hasenfeld, Heimbach.

Zondag 2 October
09.00 - 09.15: Through L218 to Hasenfeld, Vandaar via L15 naar Schwammenauel Dam.
09.15 - 09.45: Bezoek Schwammenauel Staudam.
09.45 - 10.30: Through connection with L15 to L249 and L249 and then via B265 ri. Gemund. Of Gemund directly or via B265 towards Schleiden and then via B266 to Morsbach. From Morsbach follow B266 to Vogelsang.
10.30 - 12.30: Visit Ordensburg Vogelsang including tour in Dutch.
12.30 - 13.30: Lunch.
13.30 - 17.30: Via B266 ri. Morsbach / Herhahn. Thence through L 207 ri. Dreiborn. L207 continue to become affiliated with B258. B258 according to Roetgen. Via Aachen to Oosterbeek.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the program may be modified.
